- I just got Sound Quest's Midi Quest Editor/Librarian for Windows. I'm
- appalled!
-
- I saw the add in a magazine and it looked like what I've been looking
- for. It's a global editor/librarian for a large number of synthesizers
- and effects.
-
- First of all, the font that they use must be installed - it doesn't
- come with Windows. I don't mind that so much, but the font they chose
- is unreadable. The generic SYSTEM font is much more readable.
-
- Second, the manual is crap. The screen images are largely from a Mac,
- if they are readable at all. The text is not very clear either.
-
- Third, the edit windows are not very usable either. Things are packed
- tightly on the screen and the screen is not scalable. If you try to
- resize the window, nothing changes size (except the border). The
- cursor is the same old arrow, which covers up most of the things. A
- cross-hair cursor would work better.
-
- Fourth, they don't really use the Windows environment! In one of the
- windows, there is a scrollbar on the top of the window (not the
- standard scrollbar), and it doesn't even work very well. There are
- scrollbars on all the other windows (standard ones), but they aren't
- even used. Now I know that Midi Quest is available on Mac, Atari AND
- IBM, but if the native environment is not used...
-
- Are there any Windows users out there that could recommend a GOOD
- Editor/Librarian that runs in the Windows environment? I currently use
- Cakewalk Pro for Windows and love it! Something compatible would be
- nice. I actually paid more for Midi Quest than I did for Cakewalk
- though it's not worth 1/3!!
-
- Thanks,
-
