- Greetings-
-
- I am new on Deaf-l , and I have a question for the masses, but I thought
- I should introduce myself first.
-
- My name is Alecia Devantier. I am currently teaching math at Central
- Michigan University to pay my tuition at Library School. I am hoping for a
- career as either an academic or public library reference librarian.
- I am a hearie (with selective hearing). I started to learn sign language
- last semester, and I love it!!
-
- Enough about me and onto my question. I would like to learn more sign
- language so that I can work (and communicate) with hearing impaired
- patrons. I think I would especially enjoy working as an interpreter
- at childrens' storyhours. I have expressed this interest to several
- individuals, including practicing librarians and several faculty members.
- The response has been pretty much the same, with most of these individuals
- thinking that this would be a waste of time.
-
- I would like to hear the opinions, comments, etc. of individuals on this
-
- Have a GREAT day!
