  19. I am new on Deaf-l , and I have a question for the masses, but I thought
  20. I should introduce myself first.
  21.  
  22. My name is Alecia Devantier.  I am currently teaching math at Central
  23. Michigan University to pay my tuition at Library School.  I am hoping for a
  24. career as either an academic or public library reference librarian.
  25. I am a hearie (with selective hearing).  I started to learn sign language
  26. last semester, and I love it!!
  27.  
  28. Enough about me and onto my question.  I would like to learn more sign
  29. language so that I can work (and communicate) with hearing impaired
  30. patrons.  I think I would especially enjoy working as an interpreter
  31. at childrens' storyhours.  I have expressed this interest to several
  32. individuals, including practicing librarians and several faculty members.
  33. The response has been pretty much the same, with most of these individuals
  34. thinking that this would be a waste of time.

  37.
