- Ultratec and Krown make TTYs that connect directly into the
- telephone jacks...
-
- They are great because they also have capacity to be an
- answering machine. You have your own TTY/Answering Machine
- plugged directly into the wall...The only disadvantage is if
- you have hearing friends over, they can't use ur phone unless from
- the wall you have a split adapter or whatchmacalit in which you
- can plug the phone into one and the tty into the other...
-
- Or if you make a phone call to someone who has hearing people
- in the house who arent familiar with TTYs or to work place where
- you have to be connected to the person with the TTY and the other
- people arent familiar with it... having the phone there beside the
- TTY is helpful so you can say, "please put it on the TTY" or "I want
- so-and so.." Otherwise...plug the TTY into the wall and just
- depend on the relay service to take care of those things...
