  11. Ultratec and Krown make TTYs that connect directly into the
  12. telephone jacks...

  14. They are great because they also have capacity to be an
  15. answering machine.  You have your own TTY/Answering Machine
  16. plugged directly into the wall...The only disadvantage is if
  17. you have hearing friends over, they can't use ur phone unless from
  18. the wall you have a split adapter or whatchmacalit in which you
  19. can plug the phone into one and the tty into the other...

  21. Or if you make a phone call to someone who has hearing people
  22. in the house who arent familiar with TTYs or to work place where
  23. you have to be connected to the person with the TTY and the other
  24. people arent familiar with it... having the phone there beside the
  25. TTY is helpful so you can say, "please put it on the TTY" or "I want
  26. so-and so.."  Otherwise...plug the TTY into the wall and just
  27. depend on the relay service to take care of those things...
