  13.     My experience with circ errors is that if we are unable to find
  14. the book or magazine on the shelf the first time the patron comes in
  15. and complains, it is still in the patron's possession somewhere-
  16. somehow.  I will place it in the "Claimed returned" status and then
  17. ask the patron to please check again and that we will do the same.
  18. It almost always is returned by the patron within a couple weeks--
  19. and usually with a most interesting explanation as to where it was
  20. found.  I do occasionally make exceptions (if I know the patron
  21. personally), but those cases are very rare.
