  14. Before automated circ, there was manual circ.  In that system, we used to
  15. stamp both due dates, and return dates.  Now that we are online, we've found
  16. that this system is still the best for handling the type of errors mentioned.
  17. 99.99999999% of the time, even if the computer step is goofed, the manual
  18. step isn't.  Of course, this doesn't stop all your problems with the public,
  19. but it does make your position much more solid.
