- Subject: MOHICANS & a little help from a "Comment" friend...

- Here's a positive thought--just a tidbit--to add to anyone's view of Last of
- the Mohicans. It's from the latest issue of Film Comment, one of the "Moments
- out of Time" observations made on the past year's films... and one I happen
- to agree with:
-
- " 'Stay alive, no matter what occurs--I >will< find you!': Daniel Day-Lewis
- to Madeleine Stowe. Overexposure in TV clips can't reduce the bravery and
- exquisite judgment in the writing of that line; it's the startling 'occurs'
- that measures Hawkeye poised between races, cultures, and fundamental
- allegiances, in The Last of the Mohicans..." JC
