- It's a lot of fun to play around with predictions for the Oscar, even though
- it should be well known that the most pretentious, bloated films usually get
- nominated and WIN as Best Picture. (examples: GANDHI, DANCES WITH WOLVES).
- However, my guesses are:

- UNFORGIVEN -- no question about this. It still seems to be the favorite.
- A FEW GOOD MEN -- it had momentum a few weeks ago, but seems to be fading.
- HOWARDS END -- don't count this out. Hollywood loves British class.
- THE PLAYER -- they will definitely nominate it to show how tolerant they are.
- SCENT OF A WOMAN -- has the momentum right now. Up until the Golden Globes, I
- would have guessed CRYING GAME or MALCOLM X. But I think winning the
- Globe makes this an inevitable Best Picture nominee. It may even win.
- Hollywood loves a film with -- SPOILER ALERT --
