- I believe your are right--"The Vanishing" I was thinking of, too, was Dutch,
- by director George Sluizer(?). I just caught the promo to the American
- remake myself, last night... and guess what? --Sluizer is the director on
- this one too, a rather rare occurrence.

- Which gives me, for one, mixed feelings. Maybe, good director or no (I know
- nothing else about his track record: is he new to filmmaking?), he's seen an
- opportunity to get into Hollywood filmmaking where greater resources will be
- available to him in the future (regardless of whether he takes his remake
- as a "serious" effort of translation or improvement of his original film).
- That would be like repeating the history of Paul Verhoeven.
