  17. Right about Carpenter's often-maligned remake of The Thing.  It *is* closer
  18. to the novella, and does pretty well considered on its own.  Someone else also m
  19.    entioned Scorsese's remake of Cape Fear--one I overlooked as an obvious impro
  20.    ve-ment on the original.  JC
