- I've never seen more than the chariot race from the original Ben Hur, but
- some revisionist opinion in this instance, too, says it was better than the
- inflated and often boring remake. (Original was with Ramon Navarro in the
- Heston role... surely *you* remember *him*?) I don't know. The Wyler-
- Heston Ben Hur is often flabby, pious and sentimental (but hey, the "classic"
- novel was no great shakes), but has some real basic storytelling virtues.
- It keeps you watching if you're in an undemanding and receptive mood.
