- Subject: without a child in tow
-
- Adrian is reluctant to go see an animated movie without a child in tow. I'm
- not! The trick: walk in late, and hide behind a huge box of popcorn! Failing
- that, swipe somebody else's kid from the theatre lobby! I saw Beauty and the
- Beast in the theatre, by myself, and was really glad I saw it on the big
- screen. The plot, of course, was the same old "love of beauty transforms
- beast" story, but the way that tale was accomplished was a delight to behold.
- I was blown away by the big-screen pageantry of the animation. The woman who
- plays Jessica Fletcher on Murder She Wrote did the voice of the teapot, and she
- was wonderful! So were all of the other animated "objects" in the beast's
- household.
-
- I've seen many kiddie flicks--some as a child, and probably almost as many as
- an adult. Within the past year or so I went to see Milo and Otis (not
- animated, but a beautifully done "children's story" about the adventures of a
- kitten and a puppy, filmed in a wildlife preserve in Japan), and 101
- Dalmatians. I dragged Ellen along to both of these, and I think we both
- laughed more than any of the kids in the audience. It's so true that there's a
- lot of "kiddie" humor that you appreciate with much more insight as an adult.
-
- just my two cents,
- Anita
