  17. If Circulation is to get 'respect' it will be earned by the attitude of
  18. the people staffing the desk, and not by the name on a piece of parchment
  19. hanging on the wall.  There are a bunch of folks on this list who run
  20. a good Circ operation that do not have the MLS degree, and there is no
  21. guarantee that the posession of a degree guarantees a top-notch circ
  22. operation.

  24. If Circulation *is* run as a professional operation by those who have
  25. no MLS, and it doesn't get the respect it deserves, then the problem
  26. lies in the administration of the library...folks who by and large
  27. DO have their MLS.
