  48. Once more... the nature of what is perceived as sin changes over time.
  49. This is an established fact.
  50. Awareness of the fact that a given act may or may not be in keeping
  51. with the spirit of the Gospel seldom comes from the "Church".
  52.  
  53. Revolutionary ideas are usually the result of the gifted insight of
  54. a few individuals.  This insight may stem from reason or from the 
  55. gift of the Spirit.  The end result is that these individuals make 
  56. others avare of a need to re-examine what they hold to be true.
  57. This can only be done in contemplation of the Spirit within.
  58. We were promised that the Spirit would lead us.  The Spirit speaks to 
  59. who he will.  We were promised that the Spirit would guide the Church, 
  60. not that the Spirit would lead the hierarchy of the Church.  
  61. We are ALL part of the Church.  Thoughout history are examples
  62. of lowly Christians and hermits chastizing the heirarchy for their errors.
  63. Often these people cause the hierarchy to see the light.
  64. Ladership often (usually?) comes from below and not from above.
  65. The structure of the Church changes to reflect the insight and needs
  66. of those who make it up.

  68. What is sin?  Is it a list of things that we shouldn't do?
  69. Is that in the spirit of the New Testement?

  71. The important thing is WHY we do something.  If we make a rule more
  72. important than what it is supposed to stand for we are guilty of
  73. Idolatry.

  75. Sexual regulations were designed to uphold the Sanctity and Human Dignity
  76. of the Individual.. to help make sure that peole were not USING
  77. each other as things, contrary to their human dignity.

  79. The time has come for another change.  As previously posted by another
  80. person (sorry I don't recall who), it is time to grant homosexual couples
  81. the human dignity that current regulations deny them.  A chance to 
  82. find themselves, and not hide in shame what they can not help.
  83. The Church admits that it is not wrong to be Homosexual.  This
  84. is how they have been created... and thus it is right for them to have
  85. been created that way.   
  86. The inconsistancy in Church teaching lies in (supposedly) recognizing
  87. them for what they are, and forcing them to lie about themselves
  88. to the both themselves and the world.  This is to deny them the basic
  89. human dignity to accept who they have been made.

  91. Perhaps the time has come to grant them the dignity of marriage
  92. or "union" if you prefer...

  97. instead contemplate the message (not the words) of the Gospel.
