  13. This probably re-hashes old stuff, any summaries are welcome.

  15. I'm using SMTP to talk to the world.  However, some "postmasters"
  16. out there claim my return addresses choke their systems.  They
  17. mention that:
  18.       tom=gray%netadmin%css@css.unc.edu
  19.  
  20. is "BAD" because the "=" means something to their system.  They also
  21. want to know why it can't be replaced with the underscore.

  23. Page 1-9 of the SMTP Gate manual states (under common syntax rules)
  24.  that "The characters @,!,%,", and = are significant.  The manual
  25. doesn't state what to do about it.

  27. Easy way out is to create nicknames, but since some of my group
  28. names contain spaces (MHCRC Center@Psychiatry, MR Core@BDRC) this means
  29. losing some of the advantages of StreetTalk.

  31. IS THIS A FUNDAMENTAL PROBLEM WITH SMTP?  Are these other systems
  32. just "whining"?
