  19. It's PDD: Pervasive Developmental Disorder.  That's the category autism
  20. is listed under in DSM-III-R (the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of the
  21. American Psychiatric Association).  Autism or Autistic Disorder is the most
  22. extreme form of PDD.  SID is a symptom that is often (but not always)
  23. present in people with pervasive developmental disorders, including autism,
  24. but may also occur in people who don't have PDD.
