- Last night band practice, the bass player was trying out some new licks
- (er, easy Libby, that's *riffs*). At one point he hit what had to be
- the abolute *worst* note I've ever heard! Awful, badly intonated,
- completely out of place, out of time, just plain *bonk*. But, it was
- so bad, that it had a sort of charm, it was actually pleasant against
- the popish tune we were doing (a Beatles tune). Alas, he couldn't
- produce it again (I'm not sure we want him to anyway). But we did get
- it on tape.
-
- I think it opened our ears to just how tight and conventional our playing
- had become. We were definitely loosened by that bonk.
-
- I contribute much of my lack of singing ability to the fact that I was
- told that "you can't really sing, why don't you play this percussion thingy"
- in grammar school. So I didn't sing *at all* for some 20 years. Bastards.
