- Paul H. sez:
- >To wit, I was serenaded by some lads in a band calling itself 'Goober and
- >the Peas', which played a delightful ditty called 'Hot Women, Cold Beer'.
-
- and Jeff P. guesses:
-
- > If I'm not mistaken (and you know, I often am) this band hails from
- >Lexington, KY... just down the road from good ol' Mo'haid. I've never seen
- >or heard 'em, but I've seen plenty of handbills stapled to telephone poles
-
- Well, Jeff, I'm afraid this is one of the times that you're mistaken. A band
- I was in last year played a gig with Goober and the Peas here in Atlanta for
- the New South Music Showcase. They're from Detroit, actually. They're a scream
- in person, lemme tell ya - sort of a parody of themselves. They've got those
- Nashville glitter-encrusted suits with the big ol' treble clefs and other
- neato designs on 'em, mondo 10-gallon hats, and a deadpan delivery of some of
- the most hilarious redneck-on-acid cry-in-your-beer sorta tunes I've ever come
- across. They bring their own bags of hay on stage so they have lots to throw
- around (no shit).
-
- Go see 'em when and if you get the chance if the above sounds like something
- you'd enjoy. I still laugh every time I think about 'em.
