  12. We are installing a small net with 5 machines risc/6000 running aix3.1.5
  13. connected by a MAU.Four of them are 7013-520 with 2 disks of 670Mb and
  14. 64 Mb of memory. The last one is a 7013-550 with 6 disks of 400Mb and
  15. 128 Mb of memory.The net speed is 16Mbs and the machines are using name
  16. server.Two weeks ago the risc 550 seemed to be "logically" disconnected
  17. from the net.Services like remote login,ftp,telnet and mail didn't work
  18. (even the ping command didn't respond anything!),but the rest of the net
  19. was ok.I ran Problem Determination from SMIT and it reported the following
  20. errors:
  21. error label:tok_adap_chk
  22. error class:H
  23. error type:perm
  24. error description:adapter error
  25. probable causes:adapter hardware
  26.                 adapter microcode
  27. failure causes:token-ring adapter
  28.  
  29. We called IBM's technician, he changed the token-ring adapter but it didn't
  30. work (and he is not sure if it really is a hardware problem).
  31. Has anyone else seen this?
