- .hqx files are BINHEX. You can use Stuffit and Compact Pro on your Mac
- to un-binhex or to create binhexed files. You will find that a large
- number of binhexed files are actually larger than the original file, but
- they are ascii and easier for many people to up/down load than binary
- files. Thus, when you un-binhex a file, you may find that what you get
- is a Stuffit or Compact Pro (or other) Archive that then has to be
- decompressed.
