  14. WHAT IS FWF?
  15. ~~~~~~~~~~~~
  16. The Free Widget Foundation (FWF) commenced in the summer of 1990.  We
  17. began as an ad hoc, volunteer effort, to generate a publically
  18. accessible repository for X graphical user-interface modules
  19. (widgets).  Over time, many people have contributed widgets of varying
  20. degrees of complexity, and having application across a wide range of
  21. program domains.

  23. The 'Free Widget Foundation' is an obvious play on the 'Free Software
  24. Foundation', but we are not related to that organization in any way,
  25. apart from sharing the goal of having high-quality software available
  26. to the public at no cost.

  30. The success of this project depends solely on the work of the FWF volunteers.

  39. ScrolledList, Slider are some of the widgets available in our growing
  40. collection.

  60. We are  trying to construct a much-improved, much-extended version (4.0) of the
  61. free widget set. This version is tentatively scheduled for relase by the end of April,1993. You know where to find it then!!
