- Weekend boinks are usually well-attended, yes; I had over 80 people at
- my place for the last MegaBoink a couple of years ago. The midweek
- boink series known as the HumpDayBoink can attract a goodly number of
- people if it's well-planned, promoted and held at a site that's popular
- and easy to get to. The problem with weeknight boinks is that too many
- people have stuf to do after work, or have to work late, or really
- aren't up for doing anything other than going home and becoming One
- with the Furniture.
-
- I didn't go to the Tied House because I don't drink much anymore, and
- my SO doesn't drink at all. The times I've been there after work it's
- been an aggressively loud, meat-market atmosphere.
-
- Ah, the memories.
-
- The first Boink I ever went to was at Vito's Pizza in Sunnyvale, musta
- been 6 years ago, with Kent Paul Dolan, who I'm sure some ba.sniglets
- must remember. (He's happily married and living in Salinas now, BTW.)
- I remember seeing Marvin there, and STella, and Mike Wincn, and others
- whose names I can't recall or never got. My SO says he was there, too,
- though I didn't know him at the time. I don't remember the nominal
- excuse for the boink. The memory is the second thing to go, they say.
-
- Vito's is a cheesy (so sue me) little dive that serves the definitive
- NY style pizza. The back room seems to be blocked off these days, so
- I don't know if there are parties there anymore.
