- Tim Wood belatedly responds to an old article of mine with:
-
- >I said:
- >> True, you can infer anything you want if you really wanna get
- >>down to it. But whether or not it's accurate is another matter
- >>entirely. But, please, continue to infer, assume and draw conclusions...
-
- >Part of communicating effectively is to anticipate what your reader/listener
- >might infer from what you say.
-
- Duoy.
-
- > You don't want them to make inaccurate inferences.
-
- No, *you* may not want them to make inaccurate inferences into
- personality or what-have-you. Other's don't care about that.
-
- > The reader's reaction is, believe it or don't, partly the
- >writer's responsibility.
-
- Double-duoy with a half-twist.
-
- >> Point of pride to whom? Are you placing your standards upon
- >>others in all things?
-
- >I don't consider the inclination in a person to make repeated hostile posts
- >a point of pride.
-
- Okay, so you are placing your standards upon others. That's
- fine -- if that's what you wish to do. But don't expect me to adopt
- those standards or morals. I don't expect you to adopt mine or agree
- with them, in the least. Remember Tim, what is perceived as hostility
- by one is viewed as something entirely different by another -- it all
- boils down to -who is reading- ...
-
- >>...[ If I ]
- >>meet someone who posted lots of stuff I didn't like, it will at best
- >>be harder/take longer for me to be that person's friend.
- >> Steerrrrrrike One! Try again...
- >> Try to get the point this time...
-
- >If you'd be so kind as to make it. My point stands that what people
- >write in this forum affects my opinion of them.
-
- The point was there -- more than a couple others' got it.
- Anywhoooo -- you can stand on your point until your blue in the face.
- My point still remains that you are free to certainly form an opinion
- based upon what a person writes here -- but you will more than likely
- be wrong, because this medium only allows a spattering of a personality
- to show through and some of us manipulate the net with what we wish to
- show or not to show. You are most certainly free to infer whatever you
- want from that -- some of us don't give a flying fig.
-
- >What do they pay on Studs & Love Connection? ;)
-
- Ten bucks on Studs and a dream date with a LA big-hair. Love
- Connection pays around $75 an appearance -- but then you gotta put up
- with the audience's choice. Personally, I'm waiting for the
- re-resyndication of The Dating Game to appear.
-
- Whatever,
-
- Desiree
-
-
- N.B. To Tim or anyothers -- This topic is getting to be a "just
- let's agree to disagree" situation -- if you really wanna continue
- this, I'd be happy to do so in email from this point on. I
- followedup to Tim only because I thought he brought about some
- interesting points -- and I'm doing the work avoidance thing.
