  29. I just want to toss in here that BOTH Bob and Marvin
  30. are right - it just depends on the size/intensity/
  31. formalness/whatever of the gathering.  I've been in
  32. on both types.  Marvin is very good at throwing large
  33. parties where lots of folks show up.  I did some help
  34. on one, and I don't know that I'd do it very often.

  36. On the other hand, I've now thrown TWO "mini-boinks",
  37. where the sole extent of my planning and all was to
  38. simply post "Let's get together for <X> - I'll be at
  39. the <Y> at <Z> time, look for me there".  Neither were
  40. stressful to me, and both were "successful" by my
  41. standards - meaning that I was not the only one 
  42. there, and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

  44. I'll leave the larger, more formal arrangements to
  45. those who can pull them off; my formula is that if
  46. I know of an event or place that I would go to anyway,
  47. and I know there's enough room to accommodate a varied
  48. sized group - I'll announce that I'll be there.  And 
  49. if nobody shows up but me?  Well, I was planning to go 
  50. ANYway, so I'm not disappointed either.
