- Perhaps that's true. And while I don't wish to generalize, perhaps the reason
- that some single people stay single is that their high personal standards make
- it nearly impossible to find someone who is "good enough." I think there might
- also be some frustration when some genuinely good people keep having to read
- about yet another person who is hung up on physical appearances. If I were in
- a desperate situation, and I heard every woman talk about how much they like
- tall men (I'm 5'8") and about how bald men are a turn off (I'm prematurely
- balding in a big way), then I'd likely feel a need to flame, or (more likely)
- say nothing and stop reading.
-
- Obviously, people can and do have their "dream mate," and they are usually the
- standards by which prospective mates are judged--which is very unfair, but it
- is completely understandable to anyone who has thought about human nature.
- Certainly, they are entitled to their standards. Where appearance is concerned
- (at least to me, anyway), what is really important--more so than their weight,
- their looks or their measurements--is they that the make a reasonable effort
- to make the best of what they have. I think the aspects of appearance which
- are easily controlled by the individual say a lot more about the person than
- do purely physical characteristics.
-
- Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go stand in the corner...
