- I actually like the whole downtown/Lake Merritt area. I stayed many
- a night in Broadway Terrace allowing me to discover Holmes Bookstore and
- the restorations going on around Jack London Square. There is a terrific
- oyster bar on E. 14th.
-
- Lake Merritt, with its art deco apartment buildings and curvaceous
- boulvards, has a beautiful park with the Alameda county hall and
- Oakland Museum at one end and the Grand Lake theatre at the other
- end. I actually rented a paddle boat there once.
