- Three alternatives:

- 1) Drill and safety-wire. I've done it, and it's a bear; that's case-
- hardened steel and will eat drill bits like chocolate shavings.

- 2) Get yourself a threader kit and thread the splined shaft, then
- Helecoil and thread the lever.

- 3) Weld that sucker on. :-)

- I'm sure others will tell me what's wrong with these ideas, and/or
- offer others.
