- I used to eat here a lot. I found the food to on the whole excellent,
- but the quality is somewhat variable (in keeping with the
- place's atmosphere), and I have had dishes ranging from fantastic to,
- on one occassion, horrible.
-
- One time, we finally ordered two different sea food dishes after
- the waiter strenuously attempted to inform us, as we later realized
- (in what might charitably be described as broken English), that they
- were the same fish. We finally prevailed and called him over when
- fish in the dishes was the same. He got another waiter, who looked at
- the menu, and told us that the English translation for one of the dishes
- was incorrect.
-
- At one point I knew the manager of the restaurant, and would sometimes
- order dishes not on the menu. He even wrote them down (in Chinese) on
- the back of his card, so I could just pull it out and point to what I
- wanted.

- We now eat at the Berkeley store. More convenient for us and not really seedy
- (which pleases my wife, but not me). But the food seems to be lacking
- that elusive something that elevates it to the often delicious tastes of
- the Oakland location, though it's still very good.

- I think their chow fun dishes are great, as is their shell fish and
- steamed steel head.

-
- One of its attractions, for me.
