- Does an overpowering sense of ennui count as a violent reaction? I suppose
- it does. I find the pandering to the testosterone of spotty youths (by both
- male and female rappers) crashingly dull. To be perfectly frank, I don't
- really care how big Model-T's dick is.

-
- Nothing like good old-fashioned religious violence, is there? "Be thou my
- battleshield, Lord in thy might...".
-
- On a more serious note, to agree with Brian's sarcasm, banning things is the
- surest way to make sure they stick around for a long time. How long does
- the average pop song last? The average bestseller? "Fanny Hill" was around
- for centuries. When it was unbanned, it lost much of it's appeal. Censorship
- fails to adequately deal with humanity's natural prurience with regard to
- sex and violence. The surest way to make people want something is to tell
- them they can't have it.
-
- Besides, banning rap songs is merely shooting the messenger. The violence of
- American society is the problem which needs adressing, not the lyrics which
- reflect it.
-
- And for violent music, try Naked City's "Grand Guignol" album. Very nasty.
