  12. Oh oh.  Misunderstood again.  Please, no one is suggesting
  13. banning anything.  I am the last person to suggest censorship
  14. and such like.  I just thought that it would be useful if
  15. people stopped to think about what they are listening to.
  16. I know that a lot of people wholeheartedly accept the
  17. content of rap music as somehow being an "education".
  18. Kids who listen to the more violent crap should be aware 
  19. that there is nothing particularilly glamorous about 
  20. violence.  If you saw a ghetto in L.A. and then 
  21. listened to kids talk like they somehow identify with
  22. this sort of thing you would understand.  I'm talking 
  23. about kids from neighbourhoods and cities not plagued
  24. by poverty and violence.  What do they really get
  25. from NWA talking about killing police?  They seem to 
  26. enjoy the idea.  It is a fact that rap music has 
  27. been linked to the dissemination of gang values throughout
  28. society.  I mean, listen to the content!  Now lets 
  29. not go thinking that I hold Ice Cube responsible for
  30. all the worlds ills, but I don't think that it is 
  31. socially productive to condone violence.  I guess it 
  32. is really up to the listener to exercise good 
  33. judgement, but I remind you, good judgement is not
  34. something adolescents are known for.
  35.      Also, don't go thinking I'm a priest or 
  36. anything.  I like all kinds of music, and believe it
  37. or not, think it is your right to listen to whatever
  38. the HELL you want (ooooohhh noooooh a baaaad wooooord).
  39. I just want people to think about music and listen to
  40. the message.  Some music doesn't have a message. Fine.
  41. Is there anything in that message that you agree with
  42. and why or why not?  This might seem like a big task
  43. but really its not that big of a deal. Try it with
  44. Motorhead sometime...
