  26. Excuse me if I'm being thick, but I'm uncertain about the initial startup
  27. of Austek.

  29. I thought that Austek was started up in Australia, and that its sales 
  30. office (which obviously needed US support) was in the US.  If so, it seems
  31. (from your description of events) that the "sales office" eventually
  32. took over the running of things completely.
