- Ok - I'm not easily impressed with most dealers. I bought an A1000 and
- A2000 while in Melbourne, some years back, after running round and round
- various dealers. I was depressed by most of them.
-
- So I haven't bought any Amiga S/W or H/W since I moved to CBR, due mainly
- to an utter lack of good dealers.
-
- Anyhows, the other day I decided I needed a good spreadsheet for the Amiga.
- While cruising through Philip I passed "The Software Shop". What the heck
- I thought, parked the car and had a look. Expecting signs like
- "Wonderful Multimedia Is Here For Your PC", I was *shocked* to find a
- sign in the front window advertising A3000's, A3000T's [*] and sundry other
- Amiga hardware ! (next to the WMISHFYPC sign :-) ). I wander in and ask the
- first sales droid I see 'Spreadsheet for the Amiga ?' "Oh - we have 3 here
- at the moment..." !!!
-
- So they lead me over to a A3000UX (badged as such) with dual monitors
- (and MIDI piano keyboard alongside) and demonstrate the spreadsheets ! The main
- Amiga person there (I guess) listed good features, as well as bad. I threw some
- jargon at him, questions about 1.3/2.0/display enhancers/A2320/A1200/A4000s and
- it didn't faze him. Ok, now I'm impressed (and my wife is starting to fidget
- after 1/2 an hour in the shop :-) )
-
- So the long and the short of it: I bought Professional Calc (Gold Disk). I will
- also take my A2000 to them to get 1.3->2.0, Agnus->2MB (the whole shebang
- (installed in the shop) under $200 or so). I may also one day upgrade there.
- They expect the A1200 (from C= !) in the shop by mid-Feb, A4000's by first
- week of March.
-
- For Canberra, this is excellent !
-
- Anyway - just a happy customer, who would like to see more Amiga stuff sold
- by these guys, so that they stay there. They're sectioning their shop into
- parts, one of which will be "Amiga Focus". They also have a mailing list for
- anybody interested for all sorts of H/W and S/W. If you're in the
- Canberra area check them out (and tell them to get net access :-) )
-
- Cheers,
- Markus
-
-
- [*] The prices looked Ok - $2800 for A3000T/100M (sans monitor I think)
