- This is for all you netters out there:
-
- I am currently doing a research paper on the effects of computers on the Englis
- h language. I am looking at not only the creation of new vocabulary, but also
- the changes that have occured in the language because of computers and computer
- ization (ie. _interface_ being used as a verb as well as a noun). From reading
- this newsgroup, I know that you are concerned with the English language and th
- at is why I come to you.
-
- I ask the readers of this newsgroup to assist me in my research by providing an
- swers to my queries. I don't want to restrict your responses, however. If you
- feel the response is germain to the topic outlined above, feel free to share i
- t. But this is what I want to know:
-
- How has your use of the English language changed with the technology?
- How do you feel computerization of society has changed the language and so
- ciety as a whole?
- What is the most significant change you have seen in the language because
- of computerization?
-
- I would be particularly interested in hearing from non-native English speakers.
- How has the use of English affected you, and what have been the effects of co
- mputerization.
-
- Any specific information (a book to look at, etc.) can be mailed to me at the a
- ddress below. If however, you feel that your input could cause a debate among
- netters, *please* post it to the newsgroup. The more input I get the better, a
- nd a lively discussion could prove educational and well as interesting.
-
- Thank you in advance for assisting me in this research. I hope you all can par
- ticipate; I'm sure you all have something to say.
