  18. I never said I didn't *laugh*, or that it wasn't a funny episode; I
  19. said that as an episode, a half hour story with plot, it was bad.
  20. The Simpsons is done as a half-hour show, with one connected, continuous
  21. (though often multi-faceted) plot.  If all they were after were
  22. laughs, they could fill the half hour with several unrelated short
  23. vignettes or such; the fact that they choose not to do this shows that
  24. their goal is more than just to pack in as many yucks per half hour
  25. (or 22 minutes) as possible.  So just because a show has you (or me)
  26. howling, still doesn't make it a good show.
