- There seems to be a little confusion here, so let me try to clarify a little -
- not that I am totally in the light, but I have a couple pieces of information.
-
- First, Henson and Disney were negotiating before Henson's death, in fact,
- before he died I was under the impression that the deal was done and signed,
- but Brian Henson sued Disney after his father's death, and a deal was
- eventually struck. Before his death, Henson was already shooting stuff on the
- Disney lots in Orlando, so that must have been pretty close to a deal anyway.
-
- Regarding the comment of Henson saying he would never sell the muppets, that
- may be refering to the fact the Henson absolutely would not let Disney have
- the rights to the Sesame Street Muppets. He considered this a deal breaker.
- The primary reason for this being that sales of SS Muppet paraphernalia was
- a primary source of income for the CTW, and Henson didn't want to chance
- Disney screwing this up.
-
- This is all from memory. I have an Animation Magazine article done shortly
- before Henson's death that had an interview of him while shooting on the
- Disney lot, so a lot of what I know comes from there.
