- ....Stuff about repairs deleted......
- I just reglassed a fin to my board this winter, my first real repair
- After I finished the glassing, I started sanding with progressively finer
- sand paper. I went down to wet sanding with 600 grit paper. After that,
- I used auto rubbing compound (the red stuff) and a damp rag. To get
- a good glossy polished look, I then used polishing compound. The problem
- is....with such a good finish, all the small bubbles in the fillet area
- were visible........
-
- I used a round file and a grinding stone (in my drill) to grind out
- the delaminated glass at the fin base. I made sure to remove all of
- the damaged glass. I didn't use a power sander, just alot of elbow
- grease....I kept switching hands when fatigue set in........
