- Here is the results from the first NSSR event of the season. I tried
- to scan it all into a textfile, but I couldn't get it to work. So, I
- just typed in some of the highlights. I went more in depth with the
- stock classes because I believe that is what more people here are interested
- in.
-
- All of these speeds are captured with timing lights at the end of 1000 feet.
-
- I have the specific rules for each of the classes, but basically the rules
- are this:
-
- Stock => stock sled with studded track
- Improved Stock => allows aftermarket pipes
- Vintage Stock => sled must be 1980 or older
- Super Stock => allows a speed track
- Pro Stock => must maintain a snowmobile chassis
- Open Modified => anything goes
-
- All of the classes (except open modified) have minimum weight rules.
-
- The event took place on Forest Lake in Forest Lake, Minnesota. Normally
- everybody gets 4 runs, but the event was cut short due to snow and high
- winds (low visibility). Therefore nobody got all four runs in.
-
- A world record can be set at a NSSR event. Each sled that goes faster than
- the current world record mark on one of it's 4 runs must have a speed within
- 2% of that world record run in one of the remaining 3 runs. Due to the event
- being cut short this caused a lot of problems (especially with us).
-
- Our three sleds posted these speeds:
-
- Pro Stock 129.147, 131.107, 125.217
- Super Stock 1 122.379, 118.582
- Improved Stock7 102.612, 105.237, 100.699
-
- The Pro Stocks speed of 131.107 beat the previous world record of 130.513
- held by Marv Jorgenson. However, Marv also set a speed of 131.107 (It's
- hard to believe, but it's true). We officially tied for first for the event.
- Our next speed of 129.147 is high enough for a backup for the world record,
- but Jorgenson's backup speed was higher...therefore Marv Jorgenson officially
- holds the new Pro Stock world record.
-
- The Super Stocks speed of 122.379 took first place for the day. The world
- record in this class was open due to class reorganization from last year. Our
- next speed of 118.582 is NOT within 2% of 122.379, therefore it does not count
- as a world record. The record in Super Stock 1 is officially 118.681 held
- by Vince Roberto.
-
- The Improved Stock also took first place for the day with the speed of 105.237.
- But, again, the next speed of 102.612 is not within 2%. Fortunately, the
- 102.612 also beat everybody else, and the 105.237 can count as a backup for
- that. Therefore Cathy Anderson (our driver) officially holds the IS7 world
- record.
-
- WHEW!!
