- My dictionary says: Duvet - Coverlet stuffed with down. It also says a
- comforter is a woollen scarf! I think the word 'comforter' is strictly
- an American term. Other terms are: Eiderdown, Quilt and possibly many
- more! I guess it all depends on where you come from what they are called!
- Here in New Zealand a Duvet is usually stuffed with either down feathers
- or acrylic materials, the latter being a lot cheaper and not so warm in
- the winter. You can get them with either removeable covers or
- non-removeable, the latter mainly being used as an extra cover like an
- eiderdown. You can get tuck-in ones for the kids (or adults) or just
- ones that you throw over the bed & then there are the ones that are a
- duvet and bedspread all in one (called a three-in-one) that tucks in
- underneath the top that falls to the floor, it also covers the pillow.
