- This reminds me of the amazing mittens my mother used to make (I still have a
- pair). The idea is to knit then twice as big and then wash and dry them in the
- machine until they are more or less the right size. These mittens are amazing
- very warm, wind proof, virtually waterproof (though if they get waterlogged they
- will freeze and become unbendable, though the hands inside never seem to get
- cold, just pruned).
