- Sorry, I have to take exception to this. The movie showed two people
- who worked out an arrangement based on convenience, and didn't like
- each other. The growth of a love interest was inevitable, because
- that's what happens in the movies, but the guy was basically a lout,
- and I couldn't get into her character, either.
-
- I don't want to break up anyone's attachment to something they
- consider nice, except that we simply have to get rid of the notion
- that this kind of thing is romantic. Let's go for movies where two
- people actually work at a relationship, or at least where they're
- basically nice people. We sell/buy into these love conquers all
- stories, and consequently have lots of lousy marriages, divorces,
- unhappy offspring, etc etc etc (sorry, I've been listening to
- "the King & I" a lot lately).
-
- I'll try to think of one that really *was* romantic, but there's
- so much out there in the above vein, I'll have to think about it some.
