  30. There are lots of us out here for whom it _has_ come to pass.  We
  31. live in happy, functional, productive relationships that don't 
  32. happen to be traditionally monogamous.

  34. There are lots of people out there who could not live in such a
  35. relationship-- fine. We're all different.

  37. The point Jon was trying to make earlier (I believe) and the point
  38. that many of us in non-monogamous relationships want to make is
  39. that our (Western) society needs to be more tolerant and accepting
  40. of non-traditional relationships.  Admittedly, there aren't roving
  41. bands of skinheads out "polyamorite bashing" but there is enough
  42. verbal hassling that one can easily begin to get paranoid...
  43.  
  44. Exercise: whenever you come across "polyamory" or "non-monogamy"
  45. in a post, mentally insert "homosexuality" or "bisexuality".
  46. Do the reactions such as "it'll never come to pass. Not while
  47. we're human anyway..." suddenly sound rather narrow-minded?
