- There are indeed low self-confidence/esteem men out there, as there
- are low self-confidence/esteem women. I could comment on how people get that
- way, but I don't think we need much more pop-pysch here. Personally, I like
- independent women, because I'm very independent myself, and my experiences
- with some women, is they equated independence with lack of love/committment.
- I don't know if the men you speak are reacting the same, but I can
- perhaps come up with an apology for their behaviour - if such is needed or
- wanted. There are a lot of men who are still caught halfway between the
- generations who can't believe in feminism/women's liberation, and the
- coming generations who won't know anything else. Transition periods in any
- culture creates cultural and individual stress. Some people adapt, some people
- grit their teeth and carry on as best they can, some just don't fit the
- changing times.
- As time passes, I suspect that you'll (or those who follow after you)
- find far more men who appreciate independent women.
- Then again, there'll always be milquetoasts...
