-
- I've got 1, 2, and 3. Three is the worst. 1 and 2 are sort of dated now, but
- still fairly good. Why, what do you know! Here's a review of 1-3!
-
- Kaos Theory
- Telstar: TCD 2562
- 1 5 05:22 Prodigy: G-Force (Energy Flow)
- 2 2 06:04 Haywire: Let Me Be Your Fantasy (No Fantasy Phase)
- 3 3 03:46 Convert: Nightbird
- 4 4 04:36 Manix: Feel Real Good (Remix)
- 5 3 06:39 Turntable Symphony: Instructions of Life
- 6 4 03:52 The Alcan Warriors: Maniac
- 7 3 04:58 Wishdokta: Evil Surrounds Us
- 8 3 04:40 Digital Orgasm: Running Out of Time (Milky Way Mix)
- 9 5 03:52 Messiah: There Is No Law
- 10 3 03:57 Hackney Hardcore: Dance Hall Dangerous (Terrorise Mix)
- 11 4 06:10 Shut Up & Dance: The Green Man
- 12 4 07:15 The Hypnotist: Night of the Living E Heads
- 13 5 04:24 Noise Engineer: Jellywobble (Blob A Lob A Mix)
- 14 3 03:14 The Bouncer: Kicks Like A Mule
- 15 5 04:34 Chimo Bayo: Asi Mi Gusto A Mi
- 16 3 05:53 Bowa: Different Story (Different Mix)
-
- Comments: A really broad selection of dance music. Some very housey stuff in
- the "oo la la" vein like Manix "Feel Real Good". Some head splitting
- aggressive techno in the classic "There Is No Law". Then some funky techno
- with "Jellywobble". A great compilation, something that I listen to off the
- dance floor as well.
-
- Summary: 8/10. Packed with music, but usually around $20 for this import.
-
- Kaos Theory 2
- Telstar: TCD 2583
- 1 3 03:26 Kid Unknown: Nightmare
- 2 4 05:28 Altern8: E-Vapor-8 (Inciner8 Mix)
- 3 5 04:04 Blame: Music Takes You (2 Bad Mice Remix)
- 4 4 03:56 Praga Khan: Injected With A Poison
- 5 5 04:15 Messiah: Temple of Dreams
- 6 3 03:28 Terrorize: It's Just A Feeling
- 7 4 03:58 M D Emm: Move Your Feet (Fantasy UFO Remix)
- 8 5 04:44 Run Tings: Fires Burning
- 9 4 07:11 Dub Collective: Take Me Away
- 10 5 04:29 The Ascendant Masters: Put The Bassdrum On
- 11 5 05:05 Phuture Assassins: Future Sound
- 12 4 04:57 Rhythmatic: Vinyl Energy
- 13 3 05:08 4 Hero: Time To Get Ill
- 14 3 04:39 Project One: Smokin' Chalice
- 15 5 04:28 The Alcan Warriors: Invasion (The F/O/A/D Remix)
- 16 4 03:52 Fantasy UFO: Feed The World (Cut The Red Tape Mix)
-
- Comments: A mixed bag of good stuff. It truly is amazing they can pack so
- many tracks on one disc. However, if you own any of the original singles you
- realize that they're chopping some of them. Why they cut short something like
- "Invasion" and leave a loser like "Take Me Away" full length is beyond me.
- "Move Your Feet" bears a striking resemblance to Moby's Rainforest Mix of "Go"
- and "Injected With A Poison" is a snippet of the original piece. "Nightmare"
- annoys me almost as much as "Dominator" used to, but it still is good
- dancefloor fodder. This disc remains a good sampler though, but if you like
- something, track down the single because there is likely to be more.
-
- Summary: 6/10. I would prefer fewer FULL length tracks on a disc rather than
- a collection of CHOPPED tracks.
-
- Kaos Theory 3
- Telstar: TCD - 2593
- 1 3 04:28 Manix: Try To Love Me
- 2 4 03:30 Altern8: Hypnotic St8 (St8 of Art Edit)
- 3 3 03:31 Smart-E's: Sesame's Treat
- 4 4 04:21 Praga Khan: Rave Alert (Full Alert Mix)
- 5 5 05:13 Acen: Trip II The Moon (Darkside)
- 6 5 03:59 A/Sides: Burn Cali Weed
- 7 4 04:47 Nino: The Gun
- 8 4 04:14 F/O/A/O: Work It Out "The Redemption Remake"
- 9 3 05:08 Krome & Time: This is the Sound of the Underground
- 10 5 04:14 Xenophobia: The Wobbler
- 11 3 04:31 Barrington Levy featuring Rebel MC: Under Mi Sensi (Legalize Mix)
- 12 3 05:23 The Ratpack: Searchin' For My Rizla
- 13 4 05:00 Ruffige Cru: Krisp Biscuit
- 14 3 04:46 Brainstorm: Brainstorm
- 15 5 05:05 Danse City: Braineater (I Need My Hardcore)
- 16 4 06:13 Earth Leakage Trip: The Ice Cream Van From Hell (Neopolitan EP)
-
- Comments: Gut wrenching chipmunk techno in the style I've grown to hate.
- "Sesame's Treat" and "Rave Alert" may fly at a rave, but they drop dead with
- me personally. This disc was a real disappointment in the usually good Kaos
- series. Even the ACEN track is lame. What was amazing to me was the "Earth
- Leakage Trip" track is very good in the spooky style of Coil's "The Snow". It
- is about the only saving grace of this disc which took me about three days to
- listen to in it's entirety.
-
- Summary: 2/10. This would be a zero if it wasn't for the last track. Thank
- God it wasn't edited to 4.5 minutes like the rest.
-
- >Also, is Give Peace a Dance Vol.2 worth $22? I've heard it's
- >pretty good.
-
- Come with me, back a year, as we gaze at:
-
- Give Peace A Dance, Volume 2: The Ambient Collection
- CND Communications: DISARM 4 CD
- 04:24 LFO: Change
- 04:50 Bleep & Booster: Genki (Technology Remix)
- 04:24 The Black Dog: The Von Daniken Experiment
- 03:55 Electrot'ete: I Love You (Bug-Eyed Bears From Venus Mix)
- 09:35 Erasure: Ship of Fools (Orbital Southsea Isles of Holy Beats)
- 03:25 Colourbox: Philip Glass
- 04:32 The Irresistible Force: Space is the Place (Cosmic Mix)
- 04:16 Suns of Arqa: Kalavati Alap
- 06:16 Solaris: Solaris
- 04:11 Ohi Ho Bang Bang: The Path
- 21:56 Suns of Arqa: Kalavati (Remixes)
-
- Comments: Oh God! This disc is orgasm for my ears. I know this isn't
- directly in the techno vein, but I bought this comp with several other techno
- comps and it blows them all away. The only drawback to this disc is the fact
- that I was sort of disappointed in the Erasure track, or to be more precise,
- Orb's remix of the Erasure track. Maybe it is because Alex & Thrash left the
- vocals in, but I just found it below par for Orb. Every other track is just
- magnificent. "Genki" by Bleep & Booster is absolutely addictive. "Philip
- Glass" by Colourbox is an excellent tribute. The Suns of Arqa do some very
- interesting Indian style music, and the remix is terrific dance. Strangely
- enough, "The Path" by Ohi Ho Bang Bang is a swing tune, but it fits right in.
- What I've got to do now is find everything ever made by all the bands on this
- disc (except you-know-who).
-
- Summary: 9.5/10. If Andy Bell wasn't on this, I'd give it a 10, call me
- spiteful. Buy at any price. Probably around $21 in the states.
-
- >Finally, Twitch CD 2 has eleven tracks listed on the liner
- >notes, but there are 12 tracks on the disc...can someone tell me what the
- >twelfth one is called, and who does it?
-
- Twitch CD 2
- Twitch: TW-CD-02
- 1 4 07:01 The Grid: Boom
- 2 3 05:52 Jesus Jones: Info Psycho
- 3 2 07:20 Celebrate The Nun: Patience
- 4 5 05:36 4 Hero: Mr. Kirk's Nightmare
- 5 4 04:22 R.A.F.: We Gonna Get
- 6 5 06:00 Turntable Terror: Break!
- 7 3 06:55 Egma: Let The Bass Kick
- 8 3 07:01 Genaside II: Narra Mine
- 9 5 06:01 Armageddon Dildos: Resist
- 10 4 07:37 The Hypnotist: House is Mine
- 11 4 06:54 The Prodigy: Charly

-
- I'd guess it is called "Elevation" by Expansions.
