  12. A loud *POP* is heard in the Dragon's Inn, as two imps materialize next to 
  13. the bulletin board. They are identical twins, except that one has reddish
  14. skin, and the other is of a blueish hue. The blue one (Bit) has a scroll
  15. tucked under his arm, and the red one (Byte) has a small hammer. Bit hops 
  16. up onto Byte's shoulders and unfurls the scroll. Byte then hands him the 
  17. hammer and a nail. A few taps of the hammer later, an announcement has been
  18. posted on the bulletin board and the imps disappear with a *SNAP*CRACKLE*

  21.                ANNOUNCING THE A.P.D.I. ARCHIVES

  23. I have been carefully recording all that has transpired here at the Inn
  24. and in Generica. I estimate that my archives are missing less that 1 in
  25. 100. The archives contain over 4600 chapters (articles) in 20 huge volumes
  26. (MB). Currently the archives are only indexed by Subject (Subject line), but 
  27. my trusty scribes are hard at work attempting to compile a keyword-index by
  28. name, place, and "thread". Alas, this task may take a month or more.

  30. There are two methods by which you, the citizens of Generica, can access 
  31. the archives (and their indexes). Via the Post-Office or by Magic.

  33. Via Mail:
  34. Send mail to the address below, with your request in the body of the message.
  35. I will then search the index(es) for you, and either mail you the matching
  36. "chapters" or a list of matches (if there are too many "hits"). Until the 
  37. keyword index is compiled, I will be very reluctant to search the actual
  38. archives for your requests.

  47. Via Magic:
  48. I have set aside a portion of my personal library for the Indexes and other
  49. materials of interest. If you know the powerful "FTP" spell, you can access 
  50. the indexes directly. The arcane formula is listed below. This archive is 
  51. "read-only", you may retrieve anything you like from it, but you can't place 
  52. anything there. If there is something you'd like placed there for the benefit
  53. of all Generican citizens, let me know via mail. Do not forget to use "binary 
  54. mode" for all files not in ".txt" format.

  58.     The Directory of Generica (latest edition)
  59.     JourneyGarb flyer/catalog
  60.     APDI FAQs (full and mini)
  61. And coming soon:

  64. *note* All ".zip" files are compressed using the latest state-of-the-art 
  65. compression magic. Older uncompression magics may not work (use "zip19" or 
  66. "pkzip2.04"). If you have any difficulty with either the transfer of files or
  67. decompression, please let me know.
