- ..the old bard stopped to take a long pull on his tankard of ale. The
- audience around the fireplace maintained a respectful silence for a few moments,
- until the small child sitting nearest the storyteller asked, "Mister Cantus?
- What happened to Garriot and his friends then? Did they make it to Hawksholme?"
- The bard chuckled and said, "A story tells itself in its own time, child.
- Have patience, and I will tell all. Yes, indeed, Garriot and his friends did
- make it to Hawksholme, but not before..."
-
- The morning sun was bright, but the chill of autumn was in the air.
- Garriot's attention was focused on the blue-grey line of the mountains in
- the distance as he rode. Kyleen, noting his interest, commented in Elvish,
- "It's likely to be a lot colder in the mountains." Garriot, absently, replied
- in the same language, "I know those mountains. I've been there before..." His
- voice trailed off and he let his breath out in a long sigh of frustration.
- "Sometimes, I feel like I'm not real, like an actor playing a part. I don't
- know who "Garriot" really is, Kyleen. How do I know I'll like him if and
- when I do find out?"
- Kyleen started to reply, but just then...
-
- (ADMIN: Sorry about using Kyleen, but I had to talk to somebody. :) Anybody
- else want to take it from here?)
