- A man on a horse road down from the high country
- and halted on a hill overlooking a vast city. The city
- stretched from horizon to horizon, and made him feel ill
- at ease. So many building and close together like that...
- how can they stand it, he thought.
- Dust from the long ride covered the man's tan and
- grey clothing. The man may have been dirty, but the brown
- horse was perfectly groomed.
- The horse seemed to look at the city, too.
- The man said "We've made it, Shane. I'm sure we'll
- find what we're looking for."
- With that, the man and the horse entered Generica.
-
-
- The man, who called himself Vespel Torloni, found
- the inn recommended to him by his battle leader. Its
- painted sign portrayed a rampant dragon. Raucous laughter
- came in bursts from the inn, but, inbetween those bursts,
- the sound of the sign slowly creaking back and forth could
- be heard.
- After Vespel left Shane with a groom, the Torloni
- entered the common room of the Dragon's Inn.
-
-
- Shane munched on the grain given to him by the groom.
- As he ate, he remembered how large the city looked from the
- hill. The size of the city meant much wealth and power, and
- those were two things that mages could not resist.
- "A mage," the horse thought. "A mage powerful
- enough to help me."
