- Actually many companies now require SSN #'s before they make a hiring
- decision. It is another means they can use to examine your life and
- possibly check up on the validity of your resume. The SSN is used
- for credit checks. They can see if you have bad credit and can use
- that information to see if your resume is plausible. If you claim
- you had a high paying job and were sucessful at your previous employer
- then they might wonder why you never paid your $300 a month rent on
- time or were constantly delinquent to utility companies, etc....
