- You were without a clue. The Gala for Bush was the same kind of format with just
- as many stars. I remember William F. Buckley's National Review making fun of the
- whole thing and complaining how embarrassing it was to watch the President
- subjected to a particularly bad medly sung and danced by Nell Carter. I had
- hoped that we wouldn't be subjected to any such nonsense this year, but alas,
- there were the Clintons and the Gores with the same forced smiles worn by the
- Bushes and Quailes four years eariler.
