- Kennedy was shot in 1963. If the 20-year "rule" is valid, then Ronald Reagan
- was shot in 1983. He *was* shot (don't remember what year it was); without
- surgery he would possibly have died (which gives rise to the question of
- which of our presidents would have survived whatever carried them off while
- in office, if modern medicine had been available to them? W.H. Harrison, for
- sure; he merely died of pneumonia). Gerald Ford was shot at as well. If
- you're emotionally dependent on the 20-year "rule", then you may feel secure
- (or disappointed) in that odd-numbered decades like the 1990's are "safe" for
- our presidents; you'll have to wait until 2003 (President Gore's first term)
- to get your jollies.
