- I'm a "fan of Rand", and I agree with your assessment of the movie.
- While I like the book very much, it did not translate well to the
- screen. In addition to your remarks, I also found it choppy to watch;
- many short scenes jumping to other short scenes. It _is_ "true to the
- book", in the sense that it follows the events of the book closely.
-
- I guess the best pocket review of the movie is that, 4 years after
- having seen it, I remember almost nothing of it.
-
- BTW, in response to another posting in this thread, a production
- company _has_ bought the movie rights to _Atlas_ and is actively
- planning a production.
-
- And in a final point, the best adaptation of a book to film _I_ have
- ever seen is "Manhunter," the film adaptation of _Red Dragon_, which
- is Thomas Harris's book immediately preceding _The Silence of the
- Lambs_. A brilliant job of screenwriting, done by Harris himself,
- although he tried to get his name dropped from the film when they
- wrewrote the ending. I highly recommend both the book _and_ the
- movie, each of which are IMHO better than _Silence_.
