  27.      Yes, true, the idea _is_ to get your point across, but you forget that 
  28. language doesn't just communicate ideas.  Language also serves to give people 
  29. an idea of _who_ they are communicating _with_  So, those who are able to give 
  30. well-written, grammatically correct opinions are regarded as being more correct
  31. than those who are unable to.

  37.      English professions _also_ include the writers and poets who are regarded,
  38. by at least some on the planet, to have a lot to do with raising the quality of
  39. life as a whole.  They also make good communicators, primarily because of my 
  40. point above, and as such serve as teachers, diplomats, lawyers and politicians.
  41. Regardless of how you feel personally about any of these groups, they _are_ 
  42. generally regarded as needed for a modern society.
  43.      And incidently, if a nuclear war breaks out, no matter what you major is, 
  44. you're most likely going to end up a small pile of sludge.
